Wardrobe Surprise

While PJ was away for three weeks I had the wardrobe in the spare bedroom rebuilt. The spare bedroom wardrobe holds A LOT of PJ's train magazines, slides, books and some of his clothes that I'm not sure why they are there... he doesn't wear them. There are two shelves for Paige's things and I have two articles of clothing hanging in there. OK, there's also a few things that I will be taking to New Mexico with me in January, but that doesn't count because that's temporary. So, mostly it's PJ's stuff and it was driving me crazy so I asked my special friend SD to come to the rescue! PJ came home a week ago and finally last night noticed the new wardrobe! I wondered how long it would take him to find it and also how long I could hold out not telling him! He's happy with it... I LOVE it. Do men ever LOVE things like that... being better organised?

Happy Halloween!

I LOVE Halloween and this year I went all out at work. It was such a good day! My Godson Blake and his parents came to my work at the end of the day so that we could have a "little Halloween" together! Everyone at work really got into the spirit of Halloween...

Keeping the Babies Warm!

This is my latest project, a quilt for Braylon. I made a quilt for Kadance too which he received a few weeks ago... I'm just a very beginner at quilting but I'm loving it! Karla's quilt will be ready soon too. I want my beautiful grandbabies to be warm in winter!

Blowing out the candles!

Happy Birthday to me... It was a really good birthday and it seemed to last a week! I shared my birthday early with friends at Starbucks. My beautiful and delicious cake was made by Cate and Mark. I was very spoiled by my friends!
Birthdays are for blowing out candles... and that's just what I did!

3 Day Rule

I've been a little homesick this week. That doesn't happen very often but when it does, I allow myself three days of feeling miserable and that really seems to help. I learned the "3 day rule" from my best friend Marie.

Three days are up... I'm feeling SO much better!

Beautiful Boy

This beautiful baby boy, Kadance Nicholas belongs to JR and Doshia... JR is my baby boy. I write notes to Kadance in a notebook that I will give to him one day. I have not seen Kadance since January and he will be one year old when I see him again so when I received this photo online I was SO very happy! I wish I could have a photo of Kadance everyday. I love you to the moon Kadance! Nanna

Time to say Goodbye

Saying goodbye at the airport is never easy. I had to say goodbye to Geraldine and Shyanne today. Peter and I are really going to miss them. We had such a good time while they visited. They were ready to be back in warm weather but they've gone home happy and full of fun experiences. We tried really hard to make their trip memorable and I think we succeeded. We came home to notes they left for us which were special thank yous.

Would You Stop?

A few weeks ago on my way home from work there was a man stranded by the roadside. He was having car trouble... he wasn't in a car... it was a jeep or something... didn't pay too much attention to the actual vehicle but did pay attention to the fact that he was having trouble.

I passed him by but looked in my review mirror and that voice inside my head said "turn around and make sure he's ok." So, I listened to my voice and turned at the next u-turn place and drove back... I locked my doors and rolled down the window enough to ask if he needed help. I knew I couldn't get out and change a flat tyre... well, I knew I WOULDN'T get out and change a flat tyre, whether I could or not is not important.

He said he was fine, his friend was coming to help him. I was very thankful that he was ok and help was coming. I'm so glad I turned around to make sure he was ok. I hope if I'm ever in that situation someone would stop to help me.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to my Mom and all the Moms I know... and the special Mom to be that I know!!! I hope your day is special. My day will be special as I am spending the day with my American girlfriend. We will probably start out at Starbucks and then make our way to TGIFridays for lunch. It's become tradition now as we've been doing it for years. Some years other friends join us, some years it's just the two of us... it's always a great day. I will hear from my Sons... I usually do. Sons, I love you and I hope you are spoiling the lady in your lives.

It Has a Mind of It's Own!

Uhggg! If you know me, you know I HATE going to the grocery store. I really hate it when I grab a trolley that wants to go in a different direction than I'm going. It is so annoying especially for me because I hate grocery shopping at the best of times!

I decided I'm making pumpkin soup for dinner tonight (it's not even my night to cook) and I didn't have all the ingredients I needed so I had to get a trolley because I can't carry all the groceries, my purse and my Starbucks coffee too!

Well, I'm home now and dinner is going to be yummy! I hope Husband that I Love appreciates my effort!

Colouring Eggs

One of my favourite things about Easter is colouring eggs on Good Friday with our friends the Joyces. The children are teenagers now and they still love to colour eggs. This year we will all actually be going away together and we can't leave before we've done the colouring egg and egg hunt thing! I love it! SJ got up early this morning to drive to the Vic Market to go buy white eggs because you can't find white eggs in the grocery store here. I'm really looking forward to our egg colouring on Good Friday morning... its become tradition. I hope there's an Easter tradition at your house! Happy Easter!

Anniversary

Peter & I celebrated our anniversary by going out to dinner with our friends Karen & Nick. We went to our favourite Chinese restaurant, Tea House on Burke in Camberwell. It was such a good night and we are never disappointed at the Tea House, the food is amazing.
I don't know where 11 years has gone. It's gone by very quickly and I have loved Peter very much for all of the 11 years we've been married! I would marry him again and again!
I hope everyone celebrates an anniversary in a special way.

Saying "Thank You"

Is saying "Thank You" to our soldiers in Iraq enough? I had the opportunity to say thank you to an American soldier when I travelled to the US in January. We both were at the airport in Sydney waiting for the flight to L.A. He was on his way home to Denver for a couple of weeks before he headed out to Iraq. I made sure to speak to him again when we arrived in L.A. I said "thank you, and come home safely." The words seem like not enough, but he seemed to be very appreciative. The photo here is my brother Jeff in Iraq. Jeff did a six month tour in Iraq last year and I hope he doesn't have to go back ever. Jeff, thank you for your time in Iraq. To ALL the soldiers in Iraq, thank you!

Ahhh.... Sunday & coffee

I love our Sundays when we meet Tony & Robyn for breakfast! Today we had the yummiest breakfast... the coffee I didn't enjoy but I stopped at Starbucks on the way home - yum! We had a huge breakfast at the Studley Park Boathouse. Sundays are usually quiet days for us and today I will continue to do cutting for a quilt I will make for my granddaughter Karla and I will also pack for my trip to the U.S. Brett and Paige are here. Paige is playing with her fairy castle and Peter & Brett are watching sport on tv. How do you spend your Sundays?

Half full or half empty?

I was with girlfriends yesterday and a man was walking across on the footpath (sidewalk) and one of the girls commented that he had a mean look on his face and the others seem to agree but I didn't see a mean face at all and suggested that maybe the sun was in his eyes and he was squinting which sort of wrinkled his face and made it look mean (to them [not to me]). One girl said, "Matilda, you are so nice." I don't know if it was a matter of being nice, it was truly a matter of not seeing a mean face on this man. I'm often told that I always see the positive before the negative. I hope I always see the positive... hence the "half full or half empty?" What is it for you? I hope it always half full!

Pomegranates

Everytime I see pomegranates I think of my childhood friend Elaine. I bought and ate a pomegranate this week and it was really nice to think about my childhood friend and the things we shared. Is there a food that reminds you of someone special?
